Творців серіалу консультувала автор роману, що екранізується, Дженніфер Ворд, проте за два місяці до початку зйомок їй діагностували рак стравоходу, який поширився на кістки, і 31 травня 2011 року вона померла. Актрису на роль Чаммі підібрала сама Дженніфер.
