10-річний Негі Спрінгфілд — маг-початківець, якому залишилося скласти лише один іспит, щоб стати Майстром-магом. На жаль, його останнє завдання досить дивне — стати вчителем англійської мови в жіночій школі-пансіоні. Щойно він прибуває, то повністю присоромлює одну зі своїх учениць, Асуну Кагуразаку, і замінює вчителя, якого вона любить, чим викликає її ненависть. Що ще гірше, Асуна дізнається, що Негі — маг, і обіцяє розповісти про це, якщо він їй не допоможе.
